1) THE WINDOW:

Photo series, arranged in themed groups on the wall, showing the diversity/complexity/beauty of the 21st century. An inclusive work showing portraits of individuals from all backgrounds, races, genders, classes, religions, abilities, ages as part of a bigger whole. A work that rewards multiiple and close looks over time.

ABOUT:
“The Window” artwork is very flexible in scale, form, and color. Many individually framed photos are arranged together as a singe shaped-grouping (rectilinear or irregular massing, or in a line, etc) to suit the space. Individual images in the grouping can be uniform or different sizes, (from 4x3” to 13x19”). The content of the work can be a range of images or themed specifically — for example, photos about “movement” or “diversity”, “crosswalk”, “music” and so on. Groupings can vary in size, from 2 images up to 100+. The work(s) can be uniformly or differently framed (underscoring uniqueness withn the whole), and framed to edge, or matted.

3) WEATHERWORKS:

Photographic prints of huge earthwork installations made outdoors every winter using ‘found’ weather (snow, ice, rain, wind). Made in Canada. with Canadian weather!

ABOUT:
Laboriously created on a snow-covered icy bay every winter for the last ten years, these 30-foot+ ‘weatherworks’ were made over a 48-hour period in snowstorms and rain, blustery days and calm ones, in below zero conditions, from morning to twilight, using simple materials (branches, wood blocks, rakes, colored organic powder, etc). The work is completely spontaneous, extemporized as the conditions change, which resulted in the artist being hyper-conscious of the environment, noting the clouds rolling in, shadow lines changing, wind directions shifting, sunset approaching, the lake ringing as it warped… the art made very much in partnership (or subservient to) nature. If a fox crossed the staging area, the pawprints were left in, as were leaves or other natural detritus. The completed installation was never seen for more than an hour (photographed end of day), as it was always erased by the elements over night. The final works only exists in the documentation.

4) MONOCHROMES (strip paintings)

Abstract textured paintings that are “wall sculptures” which reveal to the viewer different details and subtle colors from different places in the room or distances, and over the course of the day according to the changing light (reflections, shadows).

ABOUT:
Each work is made of 1000s of unique bits of hand cut, ripped or manipulated paper (metaphor: individual parts combining together to create a better whole). The work has both organic and man-made resonances: it can read as abstracted nature, like a zen garden (waterfall, wave sets, wood grain) or city references (skyscrapers, city grids, machines). The could be described as linear mandalas — a gestalt that has very unique detals if studied. Each work is ‘mostly’ monochrome (for example, blue). Individual works can be commissioned for other colors (i.e. red, or green), or size/shape. The works are both dramatic and subtle.

SUMMARY - “STRIP PAINTINGS”, DETAILS AND OPTIONS:
