SMALL WORKS - most 12” L (16”framed):

The below are ‘genetically modified’ artworks: their visual genes (painted slices) are cut and re-inserted into different locations within the pictoral field. (They are micro-versions of the larger CRISPR series, seen HERE.)

Each work consists of mixed media - acrylic, ink, cyanotype, collage - on hundreds of layers of spliced paper and/or duralar. The variegated surfaces reveal details from different angles and in gaps between layers (multiple physical perspectives are needed to see the gestalt).

Many of the surfaces have crystals grown on them, and some are wrapped in steel, both of which serve to reflect, refract, obscure, magnify, disrupt and complicate the surface.
