Another Frost Song

Above: honeycomb, song, frost. Hand warmed, breath blown, weather grown. From a bee home, through a piano roll, onto a cottage window. Piano-roll blown song is "i could've danced all night". Montreal. Synchronicity 20: arrive hotel, flick on tv. Land randomly on a French music channel. It happens to be showing a documentary. John Lennon is in bed, with Yoko, giving interviews... in a strangely familiar looking room. Turns out they staged their bed-in at the very same hotel. (This is the third time-collapse-music synchro in the last couple months; the others were a song randomly playing at the same time the very song was referenced in a book I was reading; another was walking past a cafe named after a song/video I'd seen only hours earlier). LOOM CODE: Pretty Rainbow Over Farm

"Pretty Rainbow Over Farm", 96" x 60" (8" down to 6" relief on the 4 curves), oilstick on shaped aluminum. K.I.A., 2012. A glorious double-rainbow captured over a beautiful country farm, as information. The photo was translated via email (by a helpful textile company located in the eastern-bloc) into extensive Jacquard-card code. The thousands of squares were then hand-drawn/scratched/sanded/redrawn in many layers in metallic oilsticks on the curved aluminum. Jacquard cards were punch cards used in mechanical looms from the 1800s; they eventually led to the invention of computers....
